The EastAfrican ADVERTISEMENT OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER 1, 2013 MINUTES OF THE SITE VISIT WITH PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS FOR THE TENDER TO SUPPLY CPC EQUIPMENT a. INTRODUCTION The Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Trade and Industry received a financial support from the European Development Fund and wishes to use part of this to acquire equipment for Community Processing Center one for potato (at Nyamagabe) another one for Dairy (at Gicumbi). In line with the advertised tender, 2 site visits were scheduled to be held on 18th19th September, 2013. Participants included Professional staff from MINICOM, MINECOFIN, representatives of beneficiaries (cooperatives) and potential bidders. The list of all participants is here attached. b. VISIT AT GICUMBI FOR LOT ONE: 18/09/2013 At Gicumbi, we met members of cooperative IAKB which is the beneficiary for the proposed Dairy CPC. We were shown existing premises which are supposed to host the machinery one on board. These premises are currently used as milk collection center. We appreciated the area because it has a lot of milk production; the venue also has basic infrastructure requirements like access to main road, electricity and water. Members of IAKB cooperative are ready to receive machines. However some preparations were identified as prerequisites prior the installation of machines. These include the modification of the building by removing the wall separating two rooms to make one big room for sufficient production space. Below are photos of the site visit at Gicumbi: The area is in remote area, about 40 Km from the main road (Nyamagabe city). There is water and electricity. The area is endowed with enough production of Irish potato which ensures the availability of enough raw materials. Below are the photos of the proposed site for Irish potato CPC: 53 c. VISIT AT NYAMAGABE FOR LOT TWO: 19/09/2013 On 19/10/2013, the team proceeded with visiting the proposed site for the lot no. 2: Irish potato. The site is at Nyamagabe District. We met with members of Association twongerere agaciro igihingwa cy’ibirayi. We were shown the premises proposed to host the machinery when they will be brought to the site. One building which will host production equipment was previously used for whet processing factory, but this factory is no longer there. The second building will be used for storage purposes.
