6 January 26, 2014 Sunday Nation ByWAMBUI KIBUE D oes your closet seem drab and unexciting? Do you stand in your towel staring at your closet and pulling out your hair trying to figure out what to wear each day? Do you consistently try every item of clothing you own before a night out and nothing ever feels or looks right? If you answered yes to three, or two, even one of those questions, you’re definitely in a style rut! For men, waiting the “10 minutes” for a lady to get ready often feels like she’s being cruel on purpose but to a woman it may sometimes feel like the world will end if she doesn’t find the perfect outfit. “I need a whole new wardrobe!” is undoubtedly a statement every woman has said at least once (read 100 times) in her lifetime. The quickest fix to a style rut (especially when you’re running late) is to dress up using your wardrobe staples. A crisp white shirt, a little black dress, a cashmere sweater, a pencil skirt, a well cut classic blazer, a great pair of smart pants, a black and nude pair of patent heels and a great dark pair of jeans. All these pieces can easily be paired in several different ways for an easy to achieve classic look. In addition to our wardrobe staples the two pieces you can add to your closet to turn it from drab to fab in seconds are jackets. Wearing a well cut or luxury brand pieces paired with a delicious bright lip can drastically change the look and feel of your outfit. Have a great week beautiful people! @MissAngelsmile A fashionable trench A step up from your basic black trench, a fashionable trench steps away from clean cut lines and basic colours and focuses more on flair. This includes frills, striking print or textured fabrics, button detail, etc. Wear your fashionable trench over your camisole, pencil skirt and cashmere sweater with nude heels to finish off the look. A brocade blazer Brocade is a type of fabric mostly used to make Chinese style dresses. It’s often flowery or printed and created using silky shinny thread giving it an occasional feel. A brocade blazer is a great way to add glamour to your jeans. Worn over a vest and skinny jeans, your Saturday day look instantly becomes your Saturday night look. Sparkly heels add on the red carpet glamour feel and a sashay to your hips when you walk! A bright bold colour blazer Colour blocking and bright colours has been and still is one of the biggest trends. This look should extend from dresses to blazers. Get a custom made blazer in radiant orchid which is the colour of the year. Pair it with your LBD for a completely different look and a diamante brooch for that wow factor! Dabble in a few pieces of statement jewellery to add to your already existing pieces and always put on a bold lip. A bold red lip always makes you feel and look really glamorous. Let me know how you were able to work these tips into your wardrobe and say sayonara to that style rut! An embellished jacket An embellished jacket may be anything from all over beaded to having a little trim on the collar. The embellishments can be beads, studs, sequins or a combination of all. An embellished jacket immediately reduces the necessity for jewellery and looks chic when paired with a crisp white shirt and tailored to fit pants.
