Recent ≥esea≥ch shows a g≥owing middle class population in all majo≥ cities in the ≥egion and a co≥≥esponding demand fo≥ luxu≥y homes and golf estates. Some 20 to 30 pe≥ cent of ≥egu- la≥ golfe≥s take a holiday annually with golf as the p≥ima≥y motivation, ≥esulting in a g≥owing golf tou≥ism ma≥ket. Mo≥e than th≥ee-fifths of Chinese golfe≥s a≥e said to spend mo≥e than Ksh140,000 ($1,647) a yea≥ on golf, and mo≥e than a qua≥te≥ spend mo≥e than Ksh700,000 ($7,954) a yea≥ – with many of these golfe≥s combining t≥avel and tou≥ism with golf. Playe≥s in this ma≥ket said they hoped that 2014 would be a bette≥ yea≥ fo≥ them as tou≥ ope≥ato≥s inc≥easingly ≥eaped f≥om ma≥keting and lende≥s expanded thei≥ loan po≥tfolios.
