Dr Mutua said he had an- swers to all queries raised by the Kenya National Audit office regarding expenditures in his county. “We have done nothing We have done nothing wrong...I am being fought and my enemies are rising by the day” Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua wrong,” he said. “Kenyans should know this truth; I am being fought and my enemies are rising by the day, some are outside this county.” Dr Mutua said he had found himself under siege from people out to gain from his position. ‘’There are those who have told me in private that I should channel some of the county funds to help build some political parties but I have said no,” he said yesterday at the Machakos stadium where he inaugurated 70 ambulances and 10 motorcycles. “Others have told me to help them and their friends get multi-million shilling contracts and I have refused to play ball.” The ambulances and motor- cycles will be distributed to all health centres in the county. DAILY NATION Wednesday February 19, 2014 BRIEFLY NAIVASHA Donkey meat coming to dining tables soon A Chinese and Kenyan investor are building Kenya’s first donkey slaughterhouse in Naivasha. The facility will cost about Sh15 million and the aim is to introduce donkey meat consumption to Kenyans. The meat will also be exported to foreign markets. A co-owner, Mr Anthony Kariuki, said the abattoir was expected to employ over 30 workers. He said there was a ready market for the meat in China and Nairobi. Mr Kariuki said donkeys for slaughter will come from Pokot, Turkana and Naivasha itself. He dismissed claims that public funds have been misused in his county. a Sh10 million dispensary as a gift to the Il Mutiok community ranch in Laikipia North subcounty. Mr Robert Olivier, the owner of Soita Nyiro wildlife conservancy, said he raised the money from friends in the UK. “They asked me to look for a project in Africa which they could fund and I decided on a health facility because local communities travel tens of kilometres for health care,” Mr Olivier said at the handover of the facility to the government. The facility will serve more than 3,000 families.
