The statistician is responsible for all statistical tasks of assigned projects or programs. Under general direction, independently participates in planning, designing, and implementation of research projects; analysis, interprets statistical data and advices the CDC DGHA personnel on statistical interpretation and implications of the results for program planning and decision making. The incumbent serves as an expert of advanced methods of statistical analysis, advanced programming consultation, planning and conducting analyses of complex study design, and supervising junior statisticians. Requirements: A PhD in statistics/biostatistics or related field is required; Additional 6 years of progressively complex experience in public health or related field and a Master’s degree in statistics/biostatics or related field may be substituted for PhD. One year of experience working in public health or related field is required. Level IV (Fluent) English ability and Level III Kiswahili are required. In-depth, comprehensive, and evolving knowledge of statistical and mathematical analysis techniques integrated with computer applications is required. Knowledge of parametric and non-parametric techniques, along with categorical data analysis is required to provide statistical support. Must have advanced level knowledge of statistical software: SPSS, SAS, STATS; and training biostatistics computers, and data management.
