The region covers the countries in the East African Community as well as Mozambique and D.R. Congo. OVERALL PURPOSE Responsible for developing and implementing the company’s Raw material production plan by identifying the most suitable areas and managing planting programs which will ensure timely and consistent Raw material supplies to the processing units. Key Qualifications and competencies. • Above five years experience in any of the following crops Legumes, Tomatoes ,Potatoes and Fruits production either in plantations or with small scale holders schemes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES 1. To schedule all the agronomical activities relating to crop husbandry (planting, harvesting, quality control etc) in the Unit to comply with the planting program issued by the company. 2. To ensure that the desired planting targets given by the company are achieved. 3. To organize and coordinate timely crop protection and fertilizer application. 4. To ensure that the target crop yields per acre are achieved in both quality and quantity. 5. To ensure that all the growing activities are in compliance with the company’s policies, GAP standards and other relevant standards. 6. To develop a team capable of executing the planting and the production program. 7. To ensure that staff are adequately trained, properly instructed and equipped with skills required to undertake their roles efficiently. 8. To provide daily, weekly, monthly and annual forecasts for the expected volumes from the entire growing base. 9. To respond to management’s request for any impromptu information regarding supplies and when needed. 10. To attend the management planning and review meetings either as scheduled or on short but manageable notice. Senior Energy Specialist Location: Kigali, Rwanda The World Bank is looking for a highly organized, energized and experienced professional to serve as Senior Energy Specialist to participate in or lead its operational work related to the Rwanda energy program. The Sr. Energy Specialist will participate in the sector dialogue with the Borrower and other donors, contributing and leading the supervision of ongoing projects, and participating in the new lending and non-lending activities. The World Bank energy program in Rwanda includes a wide range of lending and non-lending activities based on a strong policy dialogue with the Government. Specifically, it includes the ongoing SWAP Energy Access Project and Impact Evaluation, the Regional Rusumo Falls hydropower project, a CFL Energy Efficiency project, and the GEF Sustainable Energy Development project. In addition, the Bank is providing support to the Government on the restructuring of the water and electricity utility and preparing a project to implement reforms and enhance the utility performance for FY15/16. The regional Ruzizi III hydropower project which will serve Rwanda, DRC and Burundi is also under preparation. As part of the WBG group, we are working in conjunction with the IFC and MIGA eventually through the extension of Partial Risk Guarantee to private generation projects. S/he will work within the AFTG1 Rwanda Energy Team located in the Kigali country office and in Washington D.C. S/he will report to the AFTG1 Sector Manager, who is based in headquarters, Washington, D.C. Day-to-day supervision will be conducted by the TTLs for the Rwanda program and the designated AFTG1 Rwanda Energy Team Leader. The Senior Energy Specialist will be responsible for: (i) participating and leading in the supervision of ongoing transmission, distribution and access projects, as assigned, including review of basic design, detailed design, technical specifications, cost estimation, project management and implementation; (ii) technical monitoring and evaluation of project construction and/or implementation, and project commissioning; (iii) participating in the sector dialogue with the Sector Counterparts, Agencies and Donors active in the Energy Sector. Selection Criteria: The successful candidate will be a holder of a Masters degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with at least eight years’ experience in the electricity sector with demonstrated ability to engage credibly on the range of sector issues in developing countries. S/he should have good diplomatic skills, ability to interact effectively at senior government level, and ability to work in a multicultural environment and an inter-disciplinary team; excellent analytical and organizational skills; extensive hands-on project management experience, ability to efficiently manage a large number of activities simultaneously, have a flair for problem-solving and ability to self-navigate through complex bureaucratic environments; some familiarity with World Bank or other MDB processes and guidelines, particularly pertaining to project cycle management and procurement, is a very strong asset. Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including an ability to communicate complex issues in simple terms and to engage in evidence based dialogue with clients and work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa would be an advantage.
